Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies (RI/FS) are integral toward defining the nature and extent of contaminants at State or Federal Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites. Genesis Engineering & Redevelopment (GE&R) uses the RI/FS process to address the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.
Designed and executed properly, GE&R uses the RI/FS to justify a risk-based “No Further Action” decision or a limited corrective action alternative to regulators. GE&R has performed RI/FS activities at hundreds of sites.
Working within the parameters of the State and/or Federal regulators, GE&R has routinely found responsible and cost effective ways to attain site closure.
Remedial Investigations:
The primary purpose of an RI is to determine contaminants of concern and establish whether they pose unacceptable human or ecological risks.
GE&R’s extensive experience with conducting remedial investigations includes site subsurface and hydrogeologic characterizations; determinations of the nature and extent of contaminants; assessment of risk to human health and impacts to the environment; implementation of treatability testing; development of screening of remedial alternatives; and estimates of remedial performance and costs. These projects have included sites containing chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, heavy metals, volatile and semi-volatile organics, and PCB’s, in both soil and groundwater.
GER’s pesonnel have completed hundreds of remedial Investigations/ feasibility studies of:
- Industrial facilities
- Developed remedial designs for a broad range of contaminated sites
- Provided plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Assisted in contractor selection
- Obtained necessary permits
- Successfully negotiated with state and federal agencies
- Implemented remedial actions
- Conducted long-term monitoring of sites
Feasibility Studies:
Complementing our remedial investigation and design services, GE&R conducts feasibility studies to develop and evaluate potentially applicable mitigation solutions and evaluate those solutions based on effectiveness, implementability, and costs. Our efforts are client-focused to identify mitigation measures that will best accomplish program objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
We use our design-build experience to quickly eliminate technologies that are not practical and focus on technologies that will be successful and match our client’s objectives.
Understanding that there may be many potential solutions to achieve site closure, the solutions that we propose match our client’s objectives, and can be performed in a cost effective manner, while conforming to applicable regulatory requirements.
